will estes from blue bloods (2010-current) is comfortabl­e in his uniform as cop jamie reagan. “i enjoy it,” he says. “it turns you into a hero.” his previous uniform roles include seaman ronald “rabbit” parker in the submarine war movie u-571 (2000) and as officer simon jansen in the batman movie the dark night rises (2012). but as soon as he packs his uniform away, will is someone completely different…

the 37-year-old is an animal lover, especially dogs. “i’ve grown up with dogs my whole life.” no wonder he got the part of will mccullough in the tv series the new lassie (1998-1992). “i was comfortabl­e around the dog, where many of the other kids who auditioned were afraid or intimidate­d by lassie.” he was a big fan of ’80s cop series magnum pi (1980-1988), which starred his blue bloods dad tom selleck. will’s also involved with environmen­tal protection and making his house eco-friendly. he recently added solar panels to cut his electricit­y usage. as a kid, he loved gymnastics and can still do perfect splits! these days his exercise routine includes boxing as well as jiu jitsu, a japanese martial arts. he loves motorbikes and says that his parents weren’t too impressed “when i’d rip around the neighbourh­ood on my z50 bike when i was seven”. what will doesn’t like is social media and he confesses that he prefers the “classic way of communicat­ion” – letters and face-to-face conversati­ons. he’s appeared in a handful of music videos, including rocker meat loaf’s 1994 video for objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are and bon jovi’s 2000 hit it’s my life. his secret talent? “i can do the running man dance.” that might explain why he’s currently single, ladies.
