getting involved in undercover police work is no picnic, especially when the dangerous world of drugs is involved. fbi agent charlie demarco from graceland (2013-current), played by actress vanessa ferlito, took things too far in season 1 when she nearly lost her life due to drugs. and art has imitated life for 34-year-old vanessa, who was on the dark side of drugs when she was only two years old.
vanessa’s best known for her roles in actions shows 24 (playing claudia hernandez in season 3, 2003-2004) and csi: ny (as aiden burn, 2004-2006). in 2007, she left csi: ny to focus more on theatre and film work. despite actually being of italianamerican heritage, vanessa often plays latino characters on tv and in films, like her role as roxanna rodriguez in 2008 comedy film nothing like the holidays. her dad died from a heroin overdose when she was two. her mom eventually remarried and opened a hair salon in brooklyn with vanessa’s stepdad. the actress is a completely meatfree eater. she became vegan after watching 2005 documentary earthlings, which chronicles the daily practices of some of world’s largest industries that rely on animals for profit. not surprisingly, she’s an active member of animals rights’ organisation peta (people for the ethical treatment of animals). she’s also rather private – she still hasn’t revealed who the father of her eight-year-old son vince is. her love life’s a bit of a mystery too. in september 2014, she was spotted having dinner and passionately kissing django unchained (2012) director quentin tarantino. it’s not known if they’re dating, but at the time quentin was allegedly dating uma thurman, whom he directed in his 1994 cult hit movie pulp fiction.
