Acouple can only have so many weddings and vow renewals before we don’t bother to rsvp. and honestly, brooke and ridge (katherine kelly lang and thorsten kaye) are pushing it. considering he ditched her during their previous honeymoon in 2013 and the commitment-phobia that he’s been giving off since returning in december last year, we’re not exactly tossing the confetti when ridge proposes to brooke on monday 2 march. at least there’s something else to be excited about. are you loving what’s happening between ridge and katie (heather tom) as much as we are? if you haven’t swapped sides, watch them on a playdate with their kids on thursday 19 and friday 20 february, then swoon over their heart-toheart on wednesday 25 february.
a changed man
brooke and ridge have incredible history but perhaps it’s time to leave that in the past. “ridge has gone through something significant during his time away – something that’s changed him,” says bold producer bradley bell (yes, something far more important than ridge’s face has changed). “he’s become introspective about the first chapter of his life and the highs and lows of being married to a woman like brooke. he’s been working, travelling, keeping a low profile and trying to analyse himself and the mistakes he’s made. he’s been thinking a lot about what he wants for the remainder of his life,” explains brad. the pull towards brooke is powerful, but thorsten explains that remarriage might not be the best for ridge: “looking back on relationships from 20 years ago, i tend to remember all of the good parts. then you get back to reality and go, ‘oh, that’s right. she does that thing with her tooth that drives you nuts.’ and you can’t get around it.”
what does ridge want?
he’s in the mood for something a little different. and on friday 20 february, the sweet and sensitive katie really seems to get him as they recite poems from shelley’s love’s philosophy (written in 1820) to one another. but katie backpedals on friday 27 february, when she tells ridge, “we’ve both been hurt; it’s only natural that we’d find a connection in each other. you understand what i’ve been through better than anyone. but that’s all it is. my sister’s in love with you, ridge. i’m not gonna do to her what she did to me… this has to be the end.” rejected, ridge goes back to brooke with an engagement ring. way to put sisters before misters, katie. but can she live with her decision?
