Jafta’s (Sandile Dlamini) been lonely since his lovely wife Rose (Elizabeth Serunye) left to visit family earlier this year. Besides needing a woman’s touch, his daughter Mampho (Itumeleng Bokaba) needs someone to talk to about varsity, as well as making sure that she’s not neglecting her HIV-positive status. Enter Rose’s BFF Sis Bee (Thembise Matu), who takes Mampho under her wing and scores a dinner invite on Wednesday 1 April, setting off alarm bells off in Mampho’s head since Jafta’s never liked Sis Bee, even when Rose was there.

MUTUAL ATTRACTION

“He wants to apologise for being terrible earlier on,” says Sandile. But as the night goes on, so do they and Mampho’s mentor becomes her worst enemy as she feels that Sis Bee is making a play for her dad. “Mampho feels confused and she doesn’t understand why Sis Bee is there in the first place,” says Itumeleng. “But her reasoning is

the fact that Sis Bee is doing her duty as her mom’s friend by looking after them every now and then.”

WHEN I GET THAT FEELING…

The pair see things in each other that they love, says Jafta, and “it leads to them being physically and emotionally attracted… leading to a baking session and a kiss!” After the flour is dusted off on Friday 3 April, the pair realise what they’ve done. “They feel guilt, understandably,” Sandile says of the kitchen kiss. “But they also feel newfound happiness and they’re smitten.”

But while Jafta’s floating on cloud nine, Mampho’s seething. On Tuesday 7 April, “She arranges a call for Rose and Sis Bee,” explains Itumeleng. “Rose thanks Sis Bee for looking after her family, making Bee feel guilty.” Why doesn’t Mampho just tell Rose? “Part of her isn’t 100% sure. Also, how does a child tell her mom that her dad may be having an affair with her friend?”

THE SECRET’S OUT

On Wednesday 8 April, Mampho asks her pastor for advice. “She doesn’t directly tell him but he figures it out,” Itumeleng explains. The pastor arrives to confront Jafta but even a talk with the man of God doesn’t end the affair. “Jafta’s living in the present,” says Sandile. But let’s see what happens when Rose returns on Tuesday 21 April…
