Guardian angel
Kim Engelbrecht is spreading her angel wings in season 2 of sci-fi series Dominion.
Dominion
Season 2 Mondays (from 21 September) M-Net Edge 20:00
We didn’t know much about Kim Engelbrecht’s Dominion (2014current) character Noma Walker in season 1, ex-except that she’s a higher angel who’s been masquerading as a human. The revelation floored her soldier friend and ex-lover Alex (Christopher Egan). “Now viewers will see how it affects their relationship,” says the former Isidingo (1998- current) star, who played Lolly from 2002 to 2012.
How does Alex deal with Noma’s angel status in season 2? He’s struggling. Alex doesn’t trust her or Archangel Michael (Tom Wisdom), who knew the secret. Things are shaky, but when Alex’s life is in danger in episode 1, Noma tries to rescue him. From there on, it’s better between them. The road ahead is full of danger, but with every hurdle they become closer and on their journey more of Noma’s past is revealed. We spoke to Dominion creator and executive producer Vaun Wilmott:
The opening scenes of season 2 are dark and gritty. Was that your plan all along? We had to go there. There was an Extermination War that left millions dead; the world is ravished, ruined and bleeding. I wanted the show to be more realistic and dangerous. Will we see new cities? Viewers will finally see New Delphi but will be surprised to see how things work there. It’s not what you would expect. Let’s just say 8ballers [evil angels who possess human bodies] can be tamed. Then there’s Mallory, an isolated town where people worship “God”, but it’s not necessarily “God” as we know it. So which character should we look out for this season? I’d say South African actor Luke Tyler, who plays Pete. He is an 8baller and Alex performs an exorcism on him and drives the lower angel out. Alex and Noma then discover that Pete holds a secret to Alex’s journey.
