Neville’s really dead and Zane Meas has left – for good!

The Meintjies family need trauma counselling! From Charmaine ( Vinette Ebrahim) being harassed by her deranged twin Vivian (also played by Vinette) in August and Vivian fatally shooting Neville (Zane Meas) on Monday 31 August, it’s been tense. As Neville took his last breath on Friday 4 September, we hoped that it was a red herring, like back in November 2012 when he faked his death to go into the witness protection programme. Sadly, Zane reveals that it is final this time: “Neville is really dead and I’ve moved on.”
GOT TO GO
Zane was part of the 7de Laan family for 12 years and “the time came that I had to break all ties, no matter how much I loved my role”. His last scene was taped at the end of July and was only aired three months later. “That was a tough day,” Zane says. “The Laan and its people were my second family and I’m missing them terribly.” He adds that he chose to leave as he felt he was stagnating as an actor. “The soap world is predictable and you can get caught in a specific character and routine… I realised that it wasn’t working for me.”
WHAT’S NEXT?
Zane says that he’s auditioning for new roles but doesn’t want to elaborate on them. He can however confirm that a project keeping him busy is the development of an independent video-ondemand TV channel (like ShowMax, VIDI or Netflix). “It’s in the planning phase but will be available next year. We haven’t tied down a name for the channel yet, but our content will mainly be lifestyle and drama programmes.”

16 – 18 SEPTEMBER
Louis smells a rat when Franco lies to Kim, Paula flies back to Hillside, and Kim invites Aggie and Pulane for a spa day. Altus gets to work finalising the wedding arrangements, while Gita makes a business decision without consulting Herman. Diederik’s in love with Kim again, while Neville’s last will and testament is read and a shocking secret is revealed. Paula and Altus’s wedding day arrives and the Meintjies family put on a brave face for the celebrations.
21 – 25 SEPTEMBER
Matrone challenges Hilda to a baking contest to prove that she’s the better chef, and Vince is worried about his marriage. Willem asks Gita to give him the paperwork for the contract, Bonita feels betrayed, and Oubaas makes the wrong decision at the baking contest. Everyone is excited about the Heritage Day party at Stasie Ses, and Louis confronts Willem. Bernard warns Diederik not to fall head over heels for Kim again, and Dewald’s dark past comes back to haunt him. Hilda decides to hang up her apron, while Willem shares his worries with Felicity.
