Tvplus prescribes some much-needed medication ahead of the new season of Grey’s Anatomy.
Season 12 Mondays (from 28 September) M-Net 19:30
Patient’s name: Grey’s Anatomy Date of birth: 2005- current Diagnosis: the medical drama has chronic fatigue, anxiety and depression due to losing main characters like Dr Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) in season 10 and Dr Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) in season 11. Prescription: Dr tvplus has a list of medication for Grey’s Anatomy to survive season 12 and regain its well-being in time for the new season.
Name of medication: Advair Diskus (an asthma inhaler) Take this because… breathe! After the time leap in season 11 with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and her newborn, fans need space to digest her new role as a widow mom. We’d prefer her to not date another McDreamy, instead to give relationship advice to friends and new interns – after all, she is the heart of the show. Also, it wouldn’t hurt if Dr Yang popped in to comfort her bestie. Name of medication: Berocca (energy booster) Take this because… after the disheartening break-up between Callie and Arizona (Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw) last season, we want to see them move forward in their dating lives and stop moping and pining for each other. Their characters need a dose of vigour (online dating site Tinder perhaps, ladies?). Season 12 could use an injection of new blood and fresh faces.
Name of medication: counselling (couple’s therapy) Take this because… while we like Jo and Alex (Camilla Luddington and Justin Chambers), we don’t like their apathetic relationship. Jealous Jo wasn’t too thrilled about Alex’s open- door policy with Meredith and Arizona when they needed a shoulder to cry on, plus they live in a renovator’s dream house and haven’t yet made it a home. If only Izzie (Katherine Heigl) could return but due to tension between the actress and series creator Shonda Rhimes, we can cross that off our list of remedies.
Name of medication: Prozac (anti-depressant)
Take this because… Jackson (Jesse Williams) lost his baby and marriage to April (Sarah Drew) in season 11. But we can’t bear to let the hunky doc dwell on the past and we’d love to see his smile again. Either things get back to normal for this fan-favourite couple, or April’s move to Jordan is made permanent and Jackson gears up for new romance.
Name of medication: calcium supplement (bone builder) Take this because… if it’s the Chief Of Surgery job that Miranda (Chandra Wilson) is after, she’s going to need muscle to beat out the competition. Nobody deserves it more than Miranda but some intense rivalry from April and Alex would add to the drama…
Name of medication: vitamin D (the “sunshine” vitamin) Take this because… we’d love Catherine and Richard’s (Debbie Allen and James Pickens) happy love bubble to remain intact after their season 11 “I do’s”. However, we’ve heard that Debbie will be more behind-thescenes this season as a director and executive producer. Pity, as we’d love more of Catherine’s “sunshine” personality – it’s infectious.
Pertinent outcomes: Shonda reveals that season 12 is lighter and happier, plus a lot more focus will be on the newer characters and less focus on Meredith. “We’re going to tell all these Alex and Jo stories,” Shonda reveals. “Meredith is single, living a life that she never thought she’d be living again. She’s living in a house with her sisters. She’s surrounded by women who are dating and having a whole life and she’s not interested in all that.” There’s also new romances lined up for Callie and Arizona, and adding to the McYummy factor is Martin Henderson, who’s confirmed as a cast addition. Season 12’s looking healthier already!
