Themba & Niki caught in the act
Puleng catches her ex-lover Themba with her husband’s other wife Niki. Is she going to tell Suffo?
After his brother Suffocate (Mduduzi Mabaso) convinced Themba (Sphamandla Dhludhlu) on Monday 7 December to get a girlfriend, he tries to hook up with resident tramp Fikile (Keamogetswe Morake) on Wednesday 9 December. When that doesn’t pan out – find out when, how and why below – Themba goes running back to loving sister-in-law Niki (Nolo Phiri). If you think that’s bad, you haven’t seen anything yet… but Suffo’s other wife Puleng (Tebogo Khalo) has – she walks in on them on Thursday 17 December. The kissing couple’s first thought is for their safety, because if Puleng tells toughguy Suffo, blood will be spilt. Here’s how we reach that point…
MOVING ON
Themba hooking up with Fikile is good news for both of Suffo’s wives. For Niki, it will allay any suspicions of infidelity as they won’t be seen together, while for Puleng, “She’s okay with the idea of Themba dating, hoping that it will stop him from making moves on her,” says Tebogo. Themba’s struggling to build a “relationship” with Fikile on Friday 11 December and they try to cement things by hopping into bed on Monday 14 December. While all seems well, she goes snooping through Themba’s phone on Wednesday 16 December and finds flirty SMSes, leading to a blow-out confrontation with Niki on Wednesday 16 December, where Fikile lays down the law and demands that Niki stay away from her man.
OLD HABITS TRY HARD
But Niki does the exact opposite on Thursday 17 December by slipping into Themba’s bed once again. Instead of Fikile busting them, the pair are caught with their pants down by Puleng, who’s “disgusted, angry and disappointed,” Tebogo explains. “Especially towards Niki. She expected better from her!” Themba’s first instinct is to flee before Suffo gets hold of him, but Niki’s ready for war. Not that it’ll be coming… it seems Puleng’s big heart is going to spare the cheaters a beating. “Puleng’s initial reaction is to tell Suffo, but after a bit of thinking, she decides not to tell him,” Tebogo explains. “She’s trying to protect him from heartache.”
THE SECRET SLIPS OUT
That doesn’t mean Niki and Themba are in the clear, because Puleng issues Niki with an ultimatum on Monday 21 December. “She tells Niki to break up with Themba or she will tell Suffo,” says Tebogo. “She also insists that Themba move out of the townhouse.” But a slip of Puleng’s tongue to her mom Cuba (Magi Noninzi Williams) on Tuesday 22 December leads to drama. “She didn’t mean to tell her mom but the secret was getting too much for her to keep. It just happened,” Tebogo says.
Smelling blood and looking out for her daughter’s best interests, Cuba tells Puleng that this is her best opportunity to get rid of Niki for good. Suffo won’t keep a cheating wife and Puleng will have him all to herself, Cuba reckons. Soft-hearted Puleng doesn’t think that having Niki gone is worth hurting Suffo though. “Cuba has no choice but to listen to Puleng,” says Tebogo. “She’s irritated with Puleng but she knows that it’s not her place to say anything.”
