Between the sheets
After all the broken relationships that Nikiwe’s been through, has she finally found her happy ending with S’khu?
When Nikiwe (Linda Sokhulu) needed a shoulder to cry on after her recent emotional breakdown, S’khu (Sisa Hewana) was there. And now the friendship between Horizon Deep’s notorious womaniser and the feisty businesswoman is becoming a relationship as they fall head over heels for each other. Says Linda, “S’khu makes her feel lighter in the sense that she is more free and fun.” But Lincoln (Lindani Nkosi) disapproves – and he isn’t the only one challenging the new couple.
DEEP LOVE
They make it official on Wednesday 9 December by sleeping together and says Linda, “It’s not a once-off. They’re in a sort-of relationship and it develops in the midst of chaos in Nikiwe’s life. Feelings start to materialise and they find themselves in each other’s arms”. But things aren’t all lovey dovey the next morning when Nikiwe feels uneasy around S’khu. “They do find it awkward but they manage to navigate around it quite well. Like any relationship, they do have challenges,” says Linda.
DADDY’S DISAPPROVAL
A challenge like her dad! On Wednesday 16 December, Lincoln finds out about his daughter’s romp with S’khu and insists that Nikiwe deserves better. “They must choose between what they feel for each other or let other people dictate their feelings. That’s where Lincoln comes in, because he has higher standards for his daughter,” Linda says. On top of that, Thursday 17 December sees S’khu getting caught in the crossfire between a feuding Nikiwe and Samantha (Zakeeya Patel). The ladies are fighting over work when they share different opinions about a campaign that Nikiwe’s working on, says Linda. “There are several instances where Samantha and Nikiwe butt heads – it’s two different women who’re equally strong in their own rights and S’khu’s caught between them. He must deal with both fighting for his attention.” But it looks like he chooses right, as he stays in Nikiwe’s good books.
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE
Nikiwe thinks that it’s time to introduce S’khu in a proper manner to her family at the Sibeko’s annual Christmas party. On Tuesday 22 December, she invites him to the lunch, which he accepts, but not before a slight hesitation. “Nikiwe knows that this is a special relationship but this is also a very different relationship for her because S’khu is younger and she likes his spontaneity,” Linda explains. But can their love conquer all? For now, it sure does look that way…
