How To Get Away With Murder
Season 2 Vuzu AMP 20:30
Liza Weil has us hooked as the intensly emotional and secretive assistant Bonnie Winterbottom in How To Get Away With Murder (2014-current). After all, viewers are used to her as Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) uptight nemesis Paris Geller in Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)…
1 In between these two roles, Liza made several guest appearances on other shows, including three shows produced by How To Get Away With Murder creator Shonda Rhimes. Liza played Alison Clark in Grey’s Anatomy (2005-current) in 2009, Andi in Private Practice (2007-2013) in 2011 and Amanda on The Fixer (2012-current) in 2012.
2 She originally auditioned for the role of Rory in Gilmore Girls but creator Amy Sherman-Palladino wrote the character Paris specially for Liza after she didn’t fit the role of Rory.
3 The 38-year-old is happy playing Bonnie because for the first time in her career, she’s cast as an adult and not a teen; she was 23 when she played Paris. Says Liza, “Bonnie is a grown-up. She’s serious, man. Bonnie is navigating and delegating to the students.”
4 For her role, Liza researched and drew inspiration from other law dramas like The Good Wife (2009-current) and The Divide (2014). “Watching something else feels like a betrayal, even to our fictional clients. It’s like I ask myself, ‘What are you doing?’ It helps to understand my role.”
5 Liza married actor Paul Adelstein (Dr Cooper Freedman from Private Practice) in November 2006. They have one child together, daughter Josephine Elizabeth Weil-Adelstein (5). 6 Liza wanted to be an archaeologist growing up after watching Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom (1984).
