The Good Wife

-

He’s been in over 25 movies and more series than he’d care to admit, but not many people will recognise the name Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Not sure who we’re talking about? Catch him as private investigator Jason Crouse in The Good Wife (2009- current), before he pops up in mid-February as Negan, the new baddie in part B of The Walking Dead’s (2010- current) sixth season.

His first acting gig was in lowbudget 1991 thriller Uncaged and Jeffrey’s career almost ended in 2005 when his agent dumped him, saying that Jeffrey’s career was over. Then the 49-year-old walked into a casting for a sci-fi show called Supernatural (2005- current) and was cast as John, the father of beastie-slaying brothers Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) Considering his roles in The Walking Dead and Supernatural, you’d be surprised that Jeffrey isn’t a fan of the horror genre. “It’s drowning in a sea of horses**t. It’s all shaky cameras, found footage, crappy acting and no character development.” He agreed to do Supernatural because there was a strong family storyline – it wasn’t just about killing monsters. Jeff has a crucifix tattoo on his right shoulder, a skull on his chest and a bird and sun on his left shoulder. He lost 20kg in less than a month for his 2015 role in historical military miniseries Texas Rising. How? He ate one can of tuna only every day. He had to do a nude scene and use an Irish accent for his role in 2007 drama movie PS I Love You, but it was the latter that worried Jeffrey. “The nude scene, we could have just brought in a stunt butt or something, you know,” he laughs.
