How To Get Away With Murder

-

As fresh-faced law student Wes Gibbins in thriller series How To Get Away With Murder (2014-current), Alfred Enoch is charmingly innocent and the sleuthing student often knows too much for his own good. Alf couldn’t be more different to his character though, admitting that he’s terrible with tech and doesn’t keep up with trends. Here’s what else you should know about the 26-year-old:

While playing Wes has made him a household name, the London-born actor’s been in far bigger productions. Fans of the Harry Potter movies (20012011) know him as wizard Dean Thomas. Alfred’s dad William Russell Enoch (91) is also an actor, best known as Ian Chesterton in Dr Who (1963-current) – he played the role until 1965. Alfred’s mom Balbina is a doctor whose family come from Barbados, which is where Alfred gets his exotic looks from. The actor’s not one to go with the flow – he likes to be different. “I was told by everyone if I’m going to be working in LA, I need a car,” he says. “So I though that I’m going to try not get a car, because I’m a contrarian that way.” The one thing he did have to conform to was a US accent. Alfred had three dialect tutors and admits that he hardly speaks in his natural accent anymore, something that his British girlfriend misses. Not only isn’t he on social media, Alfred actually has a phobia of Facebook, Twitter and other platforms. He doesn’t look that tall on How To Get Away With Murder, but he’s actually 1.9m tall – towering over lead star Viola Davis (Annalise) at 1.65m. While he works in TV, Alfred doesn’t actually own a TV set.
