Dr Nthabeleng (Mona Monyane) has had a major overhaul – she dumped controlling businessman boyfriend James (Dingaan Mokebe) and then moved in with her friend Ndalamo (Lesley Musina) in May, but he wanted more from her than friendship. Nthabi quits her job on Monday 6 June and makes a beeline for Cape Town without so much as a goodbye. Her life in the Mother City is going well until Monday 13 June when she bumps into Ndalamo, who “thinks that Nthabeleng is playing hard to get,” says Lesley. “He likes the chase but doesn’t realise that she has no romantic feelings towards him.”

CLOSING IN

And Ndalamo’s not giving up. “Through a chat with friend Hangwani (Constance Sibiya), he learns that Nthabeleng went to Cape Town. Ndalamo has developed feelings for Nthabi and has followed her,” Lesley reveals. Nthabeleng’s got no interest in a rebound romance on Monday 13 June, even when Ndalamo tries to impress her on Wednesday 15 June by telling her that he’s willing to move cities for her. “He likes Cape Town, he likes Nthabeleng and he wants to Ndalamo’s willing to change his entire life for Nthabeleng, but she’s just not that into him. be close to her,” says Lesley. “He doesn’t want to play her like he did with all the other women in his past either!”

AWKWARD DINNER

Ndalamo tries one more time on Friday 17 June but he’s not going to like her answer. “Nthabeleng isn’t ready to commit,” says Lesley. “She wants to enjoy life; that’s why she resigned and moved away from Joburg, plus she isn’t interested in Ndalamo.” Her love headache turns into a full-on migraine when James also shows up in Cape Town on Monday 22 June. He sees the pair dining out and, furious, he attacks Ndalamo. Their fight ends with Ndalamo fleeing to Joburg, tail between his legs. “He’s angry with James and there’s bad blood between them because of business, which makes this fight more than just about Nthabeleng,” Lesley adds.

SET IN CT, FILMED IN JOZI

The landmarks like Table Mountain are all fake in this storyline. The soap shoots in Joburg and built a special Cape Town set. Art director Barbara Seane says that “we built the backdrop scenes in a week. We have the mountain, the ocean and the pier And to create the ocean breeze, we just brought in a wind machine”.
