Season 2 Vuzu AMP (*114) 21:30
Every zombie show has good guys and bad guys. On fun sci-fi series iZombie (2015-current), Rose McIver is zombie Liv, one of the good folk, while balancing the scale as the guy who caused the undead outbreak is zombie undertaker Blaine “DeBeers” McDonough, played by David Anders. And like most TV antagonists, David says that “Blaine is kind of alone in the world. The only person he can trust is himself”.
The 35-year-old’s full name is 1
David Anders Holt. He dropped the “Holt” because there’s another actor named David Holt, most famous for voicing evil tiger Shere Khan in The Jungle Book (2010-2012) TV series.
It seems that David has a thing for 2
playing baddies: he was criminal Julian Sark in action show Alias (20012006) from 2002 to 2006, Russian mobster Josef Bazhaev in spy series 24 (20012010) in 2010 and power-hungry John Gilbert in fantasy show The Vampire Diaries (2009-current) from 2010 to 2014. “Ever since [Sark], no one believes that I can be a good guy,” he laughs.
There’s a downside to his role as 3
Sark, explains David. “Playing an Englishman, people think you’re English. I’m made to feel like a monkey when people say ‘do the accent’.”
Before he took up acting in 2001, 4
David was a promising tennis player and coached at a country club. These days he only has time to play socially.
iZombie fans caught a glimpse of 5
his other talent in episode 14 (12 May): singing. “[iZombie creator] Diane Ruggiero-Wright heard me sing at Comic Con. She tells the story that I was walking and singing and ‘panties started flying’. Those are Diane’s words. She made it her business to get me singing in the show”. NB! See more on p9.
