Almost everything that Eva Longoria (Gaby Solis in Desperate Housewives, 2004-2012) touches turns to gold. Like her sitcom Telenovela (2015-2016) – it’s a show within a show and goes behind the scenes of fictional telenovela Las Leyes de Pasión. And luckily for Eva, she has stand-out co-stars like Jose Moreno Brooks, who plays gay actor Gael Garnica, who’s Eva’s character Ana Sofia’s love interest on Las Leyes. Away from the show, Jose couldn’t be more different from his character though…

never on the cards for 30-year-old Jose, who wanted to go into law after graduating in the late 2000s from the University Of California with a degree in philosophy and economics. In his gap year, he took acting classes “for fun” and he hasn’t looked back.

open in just about every scene, so Jose needs to stay in tip-top sixpackworthy shape. That’s easy for Jose, because he’s still fanatical about soccer and gets on the field just about every weekend. He even played semiprofessionally while studying. “My diet of brown rice, chicken and salad helps me stay lean,” he adds.

Jose is straight but he keeps his 3

relationships secret. He’s also an advocate for equality and says that “to get the chance to play someone like Gael for a broad audience is an honour. My brother [Carlos] is gay, my sister [Bianca] is a lesbian and for me, it’s one of my biggest torches to carry equality for all”.

Like many celebs this 4

year, Jose is vocally against Republican candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming US presidential election, reminding people to cast their votes for anyone else.

the LA native looks at home on a Latin show, Jose jokes, “I don’t speak a lick of Spanish.” NB! More on p37.”
