Hi tvplus! Why did FOX open its channel to Compact DStv viewers? Not that I’m complaining… – ANONYMOUS, VIA SMS It’s been good news for DStv Compact viewers who now have full access to the FOX channel (*125) as part of their package (as of 1 June 2016). According to FOX publicist Gilda Van Schalkwyk, the channel was opened to Compact customers for two full weeks between February and March 2016. MultiChoice noticed a spike in the audience during that period and made the decision to open the channel to the DStv Compact bouquet – permanently. Says Gilda, “FOX wants to give more to the DStv Compact customers that currently don’t have access to non-premium content.” And as a part of the promotion for FOX, they brought the stars of the channel’s flagship show Empire (2015- current) – Cookie (Taraji P Henson) and Lucious (Terrence Howard) – to SA.
