-

Season 1 M-Net Edge (*102) 19:00

Gambling’s all about the risk. Either you win big or you go home with an empty wallet. And unfortunately for detective inspector Harry Clayton (James Nesbitt) in drama sci-fi show Stan Lee’s Lucky Man (2016-current), it’s more of the latter than anything else. But that’s when Harry’s luck changes, right when he owes a very bad man a lot of cash. He meets a mysterious woman who gives him an ancient bracelet that lets Harry control his own luck!

Comic influence The show is called Stan Lee’s Lucky Man for a reason – it was created by Stan, aka the king of Marvel Comics. The executive producer adds that his show idea came from a fan question: “What superpower would I want? I always surprise them by saying ‘luck’,” says Stan. And the lucky streak’s continued: the 10-episode first season has already been renewed. Famous face Irish acting icon James most recently played Bofur the dwarf in The Hobbit Trilogy (2012-2014) and at one stage he was also lined up to take over as James Bond. While that never happened, James jokes that Harry, who’s gambling addiction has cost him money and his wife and daughter, “is the nearest I get to playing James Bond”. Leading ladies Eve (Sienna Guillory) gives him the bracelet and says Sienna, “She’s a romantic and a rebel. She hopes that it will help him uncover the darkness that’s fallen over London.” There’s also Anna (Eve Best), Harry’s wife who “still has hope for them”, and Suri Chohan (Amara Karan), Harry’s cop partner who “wants to be a better detective but is suspicious as Harry keeps her in the dark,” says Amara. Lastly, there’s Lily-Anne Lau (Jing Lusi), the casino owner that Harry owes money to.
