Season 3 M-Net Edge (*102) 20:00 Drama Episode 9 Gideon learns that Don Carlos has his memory back and is planning to assassinate Mary.
What appealed most when you read the script? The attempt at believable and intelligent science fiction. To see it intelligently used is a thrill. Did you have any apprehensions about playing a character who’s inherently a bad guy but gets another shot at doing the right thing? Not at all. I saw Jimmy as a good character to play, fallible and above all else, human. So what keeps Jimmy from following his first lifestyle? Nothing. He absolutely still makes the same mistakes, though this time through the lens of experience. And is there extra pressure being the lead? I don’t know if it’s extra pressure, but the workload – 14-hour days every day. Monday 05:00 to Saturday 05:00 with no scenes off is incredibly hard physically and mentally! So what do you enjoy most and least of your character? I enjoyed Jimmy’s grumpiness and lack of seriousness. What I didn’t enjoy is his lack of introspection. Besides the accent, what other preparation did you do? Just a lot of studying of older men [Laughs]… My father and Philip Baker Hall [Old Jimmy] among them. And what was your biggest challenge? The lack of sleep and being good with no sleep [Laughs]. Rob Kazinsky’s doing some body swapping in Second Chance.
