Mazwi is going to hit the roof when he learns that he’s been conned. Weekdays SABC1 (*191) 20:00

Mazwi Moroka (Musa Ngema) may not have ended up with the girl of his dreams, mistresses-turned-fiancée Nolwazi (Thando Thabethe), but he’s sitting pretty at the helm of family business Ezweni and as head of the Moroka family. Thanks to his arranged marriage with Zulu princess Sphe Cele (Pearl Monama), he’s now fit to rule the roost as he’s always wanted. But Mazwi may not be the only one who stands to benefit from this union when it’s revealed that he’s marrying into criminal Jack Mabaso’s ( Vusi Kunene) family.

DIRTY LAUNDRY

With a few days left before becoming Mrs Moroka, Sphe makes peace with the fact that she’s about to marry a man she’s doesn’t really know, much less love. “A relationship is still being built with Mazwi, as they’re not in love and are getting to know each other,” says Pearl. But Mazwi’s mom Mam’Bhengu (Gugwana Dlamini) isn’t impressed by Mazwi’s control of the situation. Little does anyone know how displeased they’re all about to be…

Bad-guy Jack has a surprise in store. On Thursday 21 July, the Cele family are still reeling from the media frenzy surrounding their daughter’s impending wedding into the Moroka clan, where it was revealed that the marriage was arranged. “Being a princess, Sphe respects herself and her family. She’s not used to her family life being in the papers,” says Pearl. “It infuriates her family so much that they stand on the verge of cancelling negotiating with the Morokas.” After a tongue-lashing from his uncle Tebogo (Joe Mafela) on Friday 22 July, Mazwi and his future bride try to recover from the fiasco.

COLD FEET?

Sphe’s not telling her groom the truth.

WORLDS COLLIDE

On Thursday 28 July, what is meant to be a happy occasion is marred by shocking news: Moroka enemy Jack is the father of the bride! “Given the history between them and Jack, the Morokas are taken by surprise,” says Pearl. Businesswoman Karabo (Connie Ferguson) calls off the wedding but by Friday 29 July, the fact that Jack is Sphe’s stepdad doesn’t seem enough to end the agreement. “The families’ elders get the festivities started,” says Pearl. Monday 1 August sees Mazwi resenting his bride for deceiving him and his family. “Mazwi becomes very hostile towards Sphe,” Pearl reveals. “But he realises that not much can be done as they’re married, so all he can focus on is the one thing that will secure his place in the Moroka clan: an heir.”
