AUGUST: THE BODY IN THE BOOT
Mastermind and Mxolisi realise that there’s a corpse in the boot of the car that they’ve just stolen and they’re in trouble when Detective Dhlomo later uncovers trace evidence linking them to the body. Ayanda and Pastor Nkosi battle for Sma’s heart and mind, while Nosipho tells Mondli that there’s no way that they’re ever getting back together. Mastermind and Sma’s quest to find their father’s grave puts them up against shady gangster Nongoloza (Mlungisi Ndebele), GC runs into money trouble, and Sma takes a pregnancy test that threatens to upset everyone.
SEPTEMBER: PIMP FROM THE PAST
Mxolisi and Mastermind plead guilty to stealing the car, but Pravesh Govender (Eeshaan September), the murdered woman’s husband, has a different and more dangerous tale to tell. Crooked cop Mabuza (Ncibijani Madlala) returns to pull Mxolisi and Mastermind from the fire as they fight for their lives behind bars, and Ayanda and Sibahle uncover a scandal about troubled teen Zinhle’s (Ayanda Mtshali) death that could ruin Pastor Nkosi, but Sibahle runs away after Sma reveals that she’s pregnant. Amos (Ernest Msibi), a figure from Sibahle’s dark past, arrives down in KwaMashu and demands that Sibahle return to Joburg – he won’t take no for an answer. Ayanda gets engaged to pregnant Sma, who’s hiding some bad news, and Mxolisi asks Nosipho to help him by seducing Pravesh. Later, violence erupts during Pastor Nkosi’s first live TV broadcast.
OCTOBER: DEATH & DISGRACE
Pravesh holds Nosipho hostage, while Mxolisi winds up in hospital following a prison attack. Following a church leader’s death during the broadcast, Hlengiwe starts uncovering Nkosi’s twisted corruption, while a drunk stranger praises a guilt-stricken Ayanda for “killing an apostle”. Ayanda and Sma set a wedding date, and Mabuza shows his true colours. GC and Thobile play detective when GC gets a secret admirer, but GC’s disappointed when his admirer Jojo (Siphesihle Cele) wants to keep things quiet. Dhlomo’s nightmares come true when Sibahle is kidnapped, while Amos beats Sibahle for refusing to have sex with a client. Ayanda and Sibahle mend fences as she recovers in hospital, while Mxolisi falls for Nokuthula (Khabonina Khubeka). Later, Ayanda begins his search for a job outside the church.
