Police Interceptors

-

Season 1 BBC Brit (*120) 21:00 Ex-football bad-boy and actor Vinnie Jones dons a cop uniform and works on the right side of the law, breaking down doors and arresting crooks in Police Interceptors: Unleashed (2015). Not that he’s lost his wilder, law-breaking side…

Vinnie was convicted of assaulting 1

a neighbour and damaging property in 1998, and in 2003 he got into a drunken brawl on a flight. The cops revoked his firearms licence and seized weapons in Vinnie’s possession.

He’s nicknamed “The Axe” thanks 2

to his years of hard tackles in English soccer, playing for Wimbledon and Chelsea during his career between 1984 and 1999. It’s helped Vinnie get tough-guy roles like Sphinx in the film Gone In 60 Seconds (2000) and Cain Marko – aka Juggernaut – in sci-fi movie X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).

He also does voiceover work and 3

in 2007 pop star Joss Stone asked Vinnie to appear on her album Introducing Joss Stone.

Despite his tough-guy persona, 4

Vinnie’s got a soft heart and has been married to Tanya Jones since 1994. They have son Aaron (25) and he adopted Tanya’s daughter Kayley (29).

In 2013, both Vinnie and Tanya 5

were diagnosed with skin cancer and Vinnie was cleared in 2014 after a series of surgical procedures. Tanya’s still fighting her battle and Vinnie reveals that “when the doctor said I had skin cancer, the first thing I thought was, ‘How long have I got?’”

He loves the outdoors but Vinnie 6

has given up fishing since his diagnosis. He still plays soccer for Hollywood FC, along with other famous Brits in LA like Jason Statham (who played Bacon opposite Vinnie in 1998’s Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels).
