Annoyed that SABC3 has been forced to drop fan-favourite racing reality show The Amazing Race (2001-current) after airing season 22 earlier this year? Well, the good Host Phil news is that you can still get Keoghan. your fix – season 27 (2015) is airing on SONY from tonight! And while we’ve missed out on four seasons, there’s no reason for you not to pick up your passport, travel bag and get racing from the comfort of your couch.

We’re now only one season behind the US, who saw season 28 between November and December last year and says host Phil Keoghan, “You never see the same things on The Amazing Race. We’ve added ‘stars’ throughout the season – some of our iconic locations from season 1 and I know that some of the original Amazing Race fans will get a kick out of seeing that.”

And to go with that “something old”, the producers have added something new – a Single Express Pass. The Express Pass reward allows the holders to skip any single task (except the Fast Forward) and before this season, it had to be used before the eighth leg (episode 8). Now with the single version, it must be given to another team once it’s been used during the race and new holders have to use it in the very next leg.

As for the teams, they’re once again in relationships outside the game and Phil adds, “What I love about this show is that you don’t see it as much as other shows, where people specialise in a particular talent. [Like on cooking shows] They cook… [or dancing shows] they dance… these people have nothing in common. We just want them in the race because they’re interesting!”
