Raising Hope

-

Season 4 FOX (*125) 19:20

Being an actor was a fluke for 30-yearold Lucas Neff, who plays single father Jimmy Chance in sitcom Raising Hope (2010-2014). He applied to study Film at the University Of Illinois, Chicago in 2005 but his paperwork was misprocessed and he ended up studying Performing Arts instead.

If showbiz doesn’t work out, Lucas 1

has another hobby to fall back on: maths! The self-confessed numbers fan says that “I put up a chalkboard in my house and I just do math. I have a chalkboard at work. I’m going back through algebra, geometry and calculus”.

Not that entertainment is foreign 2

to him: Lucas’s mom Meade Palidofsky is a director, lyricist and playwright, plus she founded Chicago’s Storycatchers Theater in 1984. Lucas also got his writing skills from his mom and in 2011 he wrote the tragic drama stage play The Last Duck.

Lucas loves Twitter and causing 3

controversy. In July 2015, he told his 26 000 followers that he is prochoice [supports the view that women have the right to abortion] which outraged many. “The world is a fascinating place and I felt like I should reach out to it a bit… so I joined Twitter,” he says.

His private life is a different story 4

though. In January 2016, he posted a snap carrying Australian actress Caitlin Stasey (Kenna in drama series Reign, 2013 -current) through a front door – while neither confirmed that “he’d carried her over the threshold as his wife”, they’ve been dating since 2014.

So what has he been doing since 5

Raising Hope ended in 2014? Lucas is filming horror comedy flick Fear, Inc with Caitlin (due to be released in 2017) and he’s rehearsing for his new sitcom Downward Dog (also for 2017).
