Convict Lelo could be free… Weekdays SABC1 (*191) 18:30

When Ma’Ntuli (Dieketseng Mnisi) hears that the woman who tried to kill her son in a fire in October 2014 is going to be released and serve the rest of her prison sentence under house arrest, she sets off on a quest to keep Lelo (Amanda du-Pont) behind bars. Kwaito (Clement Maosa) joins the mission to deny Lelo life outside of prison on Thursday 1 September and says Clement, “Even though she’s a mother now, Kwaito knows that Lelo hasn’t softened and she will come after him if she’s released.” He put her in jail, but can he keep her there?

HOME TIME?

Kwaito’s seething on Friday 2 September as Lelo prepares to leave her cell and live her dream of a free life with her babydaddy Mangaliso (Bongani Masondo) and their child. “He’s furious and doesn’t like it at all,” says Clement. “They fought hard to make sure that Lelo goes to jail and now it seems like it was all for nothing.” Meanwhile, a determined Ma’Ntuli asks Captain Malebana (Arthur Molepo) on Monday 5 September about stopping Lelo but he tells her that it’s out of his hands. So she heads to Joburg to find help there. …but not if Kwaito and Ma’Ntuli can help it.

RACING AGAINST TIME

“At first Kwaito is upset about his mom’s visit because he believes that he’s a grown man and can handle Lelo and his own business,” says Clement. “But he realises that his mom isn’t the enemy– Lelo is and they have to work together.” When Ma’Ntuli arrives on Tuesday 6 September, she tries by all means to make sure that Lelo’s freedom is denied. “Kwaito is positive they will succeed in stopping the appeal,” says Clement. “He has to be, because he knows that when criminals are released, even if they’re guilty, they come for whoever put them in jail.”

SUCCESS AT LAST!

Knowing how crazy Lelo can be, Kwaito should be worried, especially when Lelo learns on Tuesday 13 September that she has to unpack her bags and put her dreams on hold because she’s staying in jail. “Kwaito is relieved that his life is no longer in danger and even laughs off a threat from Lelo because he knows that she’s powerless from behind bars,” says Clement.
