Hawaii Five-0
Season 6 M-Net (*101) 20:30 Action
Grace Park knows a thing or two about kicking butt, thanks to her action role as Detective Kono Kalakaua in Hawaii Five- 0 (2010-current). And while it’s shot on location in Hawaii, the paradise getaway is simply “just a place I work,” says the 42-year-old. “Not everybody is into sun and surf; I’m more of a city person.”
Born in LA, Grace’s family moved 1
to Canada when she was two years old. She’s of Korean heritage and holds dual citizenship for both the United States and Canada.
She studied psychology at the Uni2
versity Of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada and took a gap year after graduating. By 2000, the Asian beauty had landed a number of modelling jobs and in 2001 started acting with a role on teen soapie Edgemont (2001-2005).
Not that she’s afraid to do her own 3
stunts… well, most of them. While she loves throwing punches, Grace took a step back after filming season 6’s first episode after she almost drowned taping a surfing scene.
Talented Grace can speak multi4
ple languages, including English, Korean, French and Cantonese.
She married property developer 5
Phil Kim in 2004 and they’ve kept their young son [there aren’t even photos of him] away from the spotlight. “I’m not a fame seeker. I’m an introvert. In Vancouver, I can go shopping without drawing a crowd, which isn’t the case when I am in the States,” she says.
