Sihle’s ready to grab the throne from Qondi… with poison!

New queen Sihle (Zinhle Mabena) has always been jealous of Queen Mother Qondi (Jessica Nkosi) and the respect that she’s given. Sihle’s been plotting Qondi’s downfall since she married into the royal family in May 2016, but so far nothing’s worked, including trying to get the community to turn on their beloved queen. Now the new queen is out for blood and she’s gunning for Qondi’s health!

Sihle’s got two allies who also want to see eBhubesini’s Queen Mother out the way: witchdoctor Sunday and taxi boss Samson (Zakhele Msibi and Bheki Mkhwane). Starting on Friday 16 September, Samson agreed to help Sihle in exchange for control of the taxi routes and on Tuesday 27 September, Sunday hands over the poison brew that Sihle is to slip into Qondi’s drink. On Wednesday 28 September, Qondi takes a sip of her drink and while it doesn’t kill her, she’s not herself. “Qondi thinks that she is simply ill and that her body is acting up,” explains Jessica. “She has no idea that she’s being poisoned.” Samson is one of new queen Sihle’s allies.

DOC SAVE THE QUEEN

Sihle’s hubby and Qondi’s devoted stepson Zweli (Andile Gumbi) rushes Qondi to hospital on Thursday 29 September and by Monday 3 October, Qondi is feeling better. There’s relief in the valley and Qondi’s ex Fezile (Andile Mzakaza) is happy despite being far away in Joburg. But Fezile’s joy is shortlived because on Wednesday 5 October, Qondi’s condition worsens. The sudden downturn makes Fezile anxious and he travels to be at her bedside.

While Sihle is rejoicing behind closed doors about Qondi’s hopefully imminent demise, things take another turn on Monday 10 October when traditional healer Mehl’emamba (Senzo Vilakazi) visits the Queen Mother. He is suspicious and reveals that dark forces are trying to kill Qondi. “At this point, she doesn’t know who or what is causing her to be sick but it’s causing her agony and she trusts Mehl’emamba,” says Jessica. The healer starts his investigation immediately and brings a lead to the royals on Tuesday 11 October. But is he in time? Jessica hints that “if there is a cure, it needs to be found soon because Qondi’s health is going to take a serious nosedive…”
