Dintle (Mapaseka Koetle) is taken aback by a blue line on Friday 30 September. Yes, she’s pregnant. “She starts not feeling well but she doesn’t look too much into it because she and her husband Mangi (Kagiso Modupe) aren’t in a good place because of Mangi finding out about her and Lucas (her lover and Mangi’s dad, played by Sello Maake Ka-Ncube),” reveals Mapaseka. But her pal, new mom Gontse (Khanyisile Zwane), knows exactly what’s up. “Gontse tells her, ‘You’re starting to pick up weight. Maybe you should test for pregnancy.” Talk about perfect timing. “This baby is a way to save her marriage,” says Mapaseka.

WHOSE BABY?

“I think if she had any doubt that it wasn’t Mangi’s child, she would try to terminate the pregnancy before he even finds out,” says Mapaseka. But because of how far along the pregnancy is, Dintle is convinced that Mangi is the babydaddy. So now she has an announcement or two to make. When Dintle sees Mangi starting to fall for Lucas’s crony Layla’s (Natasha Sutherland) take on Dintle’s affair with Lucas, she has to come clean. On Friday 30 September, she tells Mangi that they are having a baby – and, oh yes, his dad didn’t rape her… they had an affair.

YOU SAID IT, NOT ME

With some twisted thinking, Dintle blames everything on Mangi! “After Mangi showed her the tapes (proving her affair with Lucas on Monday 19 September), Mangi asked her, ‘Why are you crying? Did he…’ She thought, ‘Oh! Let me just go with that. Then she said, ‘Yes, he did’. Now he asks, ‘Why did you have to come up with a lie?’ And she’s like, ‘You came up with the whole thing! You said, ‘Did he force himself on you?’ I just said yes. It was not me,” Mapaseka laughs.

THAT POOR BABY

Mangi isn’t not as excited about a baby as Dintle is. Mapaseka already feels sorry for her soapie offspring. “I doubt Dintle will be a good mother, unless maybe she finds Jesus. Dintle has had a child already that she gave to Tino and Erin (Clint Brink and Lorcia Cooper) in 2013. And she hasn’t been asking about where baby Motshabi is,” she points out.
