Gold digger

Matshidiso wants money and power but KK’s in her way.

Matshidiso and her ex KK are going to war again. Weekdays SABC2 (*192) 21:00

As long as scheming businesswoman Matshidiso (Buhle Samuels) is still standing, she’s ready to fight for what she wants – to get out of her tiny, drab one-bedroom apartment that’s infested with rats and roaches. On Tuesday 27 September, Matshidiso is kickstarting her plan to get into the lucrative mining business. “She comes across a piece of land outside Joburg that’s rich in gold,” explains Buhle, adding that her character “sees an opportunity to buy and mine the land. Once it’s in her name, she will be financially stable for the next 10 to 20 years.”

STOLEN BUSINESS

While this will give Matshidiso financial emancipation, power and money, there’s a problem: she needs start-up capital. So she approaches her rich ex KK (MacDonald Ndou), who’s made his money as a hotshot at the MMC construction business, on Wednesday 28 September but all he can see are dollar signs… for himself. KK steals Matshidiso’s idea and presents it to the MMC board as his own on Thursday 29 September. “When it comes to KK, it’s always about unfinished business and how he can get back at Matshidiso. He hates being outsmarted because it hurts his ego,” Buhle reveals. Matshidiso learns of KK’s treachery on Friday 30 September and she confronts him. “KK tells Matshidiso that he’s going to take her down. She hurt him by lying and stealing his money throughout their relationship and he wants to get even,” Buhle adds.

REVENGE GAME

Matshidiso has never backed down from a fight and she’s not about to start now, so she heads to MMC’s rival company Basadi on Monday 3 October and presents her plan to Thandaza and Ndalamo (Sindi Dlathu and Lesley Musina). But they don’t want anything to do with the nasty schemer and turn her away. Just because Matshidiso has been backed into a corner doesn’t mean that she’s finished either: she has a third option, in the form of dodgy security guard Nomarashiya (Sana Nchunu), whom she met at the hospital in December 2015 and Noma helped her blackmail pregnant Carol (Phuti Khomo). “Matshidiso thought that she had everything under control, but now she’s willing to do anything to beat KK at his own game,” adds Buhle.
