Best known as airport boss Joe on ’90s sitcom Wings (1990-1997) and currently on TV as Henry McCord, hubby to Téa Leoni’s character Elizabeth in political thriller Madam Secretary (2014-current), Tim Daly’s personal favourite is one that most audiences don’t know about: his voicework as Superman/Clark Kent in a number of animated series and videogames. “I look great as Superman. I am so buff,” jokes the 60-year-old.

– he’s been dating Téa since 2014 and he says that “she’s not a whiner. She wants to work and she wants to have fun. We get along really, really well”.

Tim was married to little-known 2

actress Amy Van Nostrand from 1982 to 2010. They have actor son Sam (32) and daughter Emelyn (27), who works at a boxing studio.

Acting runs in Tim’s family – his 3

sister Tyne played Maxine in drama Judging Amy (1999-2005) and their late dad was Hollywood legend James Daly, famous as Dr Paul Lochner in TV drama Medical Center (1969-1976). “I grew up with actors, so I never thought of them as anything but human,” Tim explains.

In a recent interview, years after 4

James’s death, Tim revealed that his dad struggled with being gay and after divorcing his mom, he distanced himself from the rest of the family.

Tim is an advocate of acupuncture 5

and natural medicines but what he doesn’t like is fame. “There are two jobs – being an actor and being a celebrity,” he says. “Some people are really good at both. Some are really good celebrities and terrible actors, and some are really good actors and terrible celebrities. Hopefully, I am a really good actor and an okay celebrity.” NB! See p7.
