American Horror Story
Season 6 M-Net Edge (*102) 22:10 Horror
Until 2015, Cheyenne Jackson’s most famous role was silver-painted street singer Danny in 12 episodes of sitcom 30 Rock (2006-2013). But that changed when he was cast as gay fashion designer and hotel owner Will Drake in the fifth season of shock-horror series American Horror Show (2011-current). And while precious little is known of season 6, which Cheyenne is in and starts tonight on M-Net Edge, there’s a lot to know about the 41-year-old.
His dad David is a Vietnam War 1
veteran and a Native American, but Cheyenne isn’t named after the Native American tribe. He was named after the ’50s Western show Cheyenne (1955-1963), which his dad loved.
Despite his age, Cheyenne is a rela2
tive newcomer to the industry. He worked as a magazine ad executive and decided to give acting “a shot” because “it sounded cool and interesting” when he was 27. Four years later he won the 2005 Theater World Award for Outstanding Broadway debut in All Shook Up.
The gay actor is on his second 3
marriage – his first ended in 2013 after two years and he married littleknown actor Jason Landau in 2014. And while he’s been out the closet for years, Cheyenne jokes that “it was only after 2011 that I started getting gay roles”.
He got Botox in his face years ago 4
but the actor’s glad “that my face doesn’t look flat and weird anymore”.
Acting is his second artistic passion 5
– Cheyenne started out as a singer. And he got to flex his vocal muscles in musical comedy Glee (2009-2015) as vocal coach Dustin Goolsby in 2010 and 2011. He also has three albums, 2008’s The Power Of Two, 2013’s I’m Blue, Skies and Renaissance from June this year.
