Scott Speedman’s famous for his brooding characters Ben Covington in drama series Felicity (1998-2002) and Michael Corvin in vampire film franchise Underworld (2003-current). And he’s continuing that moody styling with his newest role, as criminal Baz Brown on drama series Animal Kingdom (2016-current).

Speedman claims Canadian citizenship, he was born in London to Scottish teacher mom Mary and businessman Roy. They moved to Canada in 1979 and says Scott, “It was the best thing my parents did. Toronto is such a great community and I love going back.”

He almost didn’t get into acting 2

– Scott’s mom was an Olympic runner and got him into swimming. He was so good that he made the junior national team as a teen.

He missed the 1992 Olympic team 3

after a neck injury and his friends cheered him up by taking him to theatre plays. Scott studied acting at the University Of Toronto and by 1995, he was auditioning for movies like Batman Forever – he lost the role of Robin to Chris O’Donnell (G Callen on action show NCIS: Los Angeles, 2009-current).

Despite “being in the best shape 4

of my life”, Scott was told to keep his shirt on because “my character just wouldn’t go shirtless that much. He jokes that “I’d slowly put my sweater on with a tear rolling down my cheek”.

And while he’s mum on his love 5

life, Scott told Chelsea Handler in 2014 on her talkshow Chelsea Lately (2007-2014) that he’d dated his Felicity co-star Keri Russell (Elizabeth in spy drama The Americans, 2013-current). “It happens – co-workers date. Why do you think we were in the diner you worked in at 6:30am?”
