The newly married couple are heading out of Hillside. Weekdays SABC2 (*192) 19:00

Audiences have waved goodbye to eight Hillsiders this year: Altus (Heino Schmitt), Bernard ( Werner Coetser), Paula (Diaan Lawrenson), Gita (Jo da Silva), Ty ( Wilhelm van der Walt), Errol (Christo Davids), Felicity (Melanie Du Bois), as well as Maria (Themsie Times). Now Sifiso (Anelisa Phewa) and Pulane (Masego Sehoole) are saying farewell on Friday 21 October, but not before tying the knot.

HEART PROBLEMS

On Monday 10 October, Sifiso’s doctor had a shocking diagnosis. “Sifiso has a heart condition and will need a transplant,” Anelisa says. On Thursday 13 October, he breaks the news to Pulane and being emotional, he breaks up with her too. “Sifiso doesn’t want to become a burden for Pulane with his illness – that’s why he decided to break off their engagement,” Anelisa reveals. But Pulane isn’t ready to give up on him and on Friday 14 October, she visits him at work and insists that she won’t accept being dumped. “She loves him and will support Sifiso despite his illness,” Masego says.

A QUICKIE WEDDING

On Monday 17 October, Sifiso quits his job at Bruynwaves. “There are more important things to think of right now – his future with Pulane,” says Anelisa. On Wednesday 19 October, Sifiso proposes and “Pulane hesitates at first as she has responsibilities at the boutique and Sifiso is planning to take her away to Nelspruit, where there’s a specialist who can take care of him,” Masego says. She accepts after some thought and the next day, Thursday 20 October, Hillside celebrates the small ceremony with Sifiso and Pulane in the Stasie Ses restaurant. It’s a short-lived Laan love as Pulane closes shop at the boutique and the happy couple say farewell on Friday 21 October. “The final scene is bittersweet,” Anelisa reveals, with Masego adding, “The viewers will see how hard it is for me and Anelisa to take our leave of the Laan.”

LIFE AFTER THE LAAN

The actors’ last day on set was at the end of July this year. Masego’s contract wasn’t renewed and Anelisa resigned in order to lecture at a film school in Joburg. Masego’s now a fitness trainer and offers private sessions and dance classes around Joburg. “My business is called 4FusionFitness and I enjoy helping people become healthy and active,” she says. Anelisa’s opened his media firm The Thing Works Media and says, “I’m looking forward to producing my own stories and scripts in TV.”
