Fans saw Dead Of Summer’s (2016-current) first flashback to Camp Stillwater’s arty counsellor and “gay best friend” Blair Ramos’s (Mark Indelicato) past with Cricket (Amber Cone) in episode 3 on 28 October. Meanwhile Mark hints, “The camp functions as this living being and in a lot of different ways haunts each counsellor.” It’s a strange world for Mark – even being at a non-haunted camp isn’t his cup of tea. “I don’t really think I’m a summer camp person – I just don’t think I was cut out for it,” he says.

Mark is a self-confessed scardy cat. 1

“I’m afraid of everything, which is kind of ironic,” he says. Alberto Frezza (Deputy Sykes) often scared Mark on the set by jumping out from bushes at him at 04:00 when he was exhausted from the day’s filming.

Dead Of Summer’s ’80s flashback atmosphere, he wants to be on a show that’s set in the ’70s – turns out Mark is obsessed with ’70s disco and pop. His favourite artists are David Bowie, Elton John, Queen and Donna Summer.

Mark reveals that playing Betty’s 3

(America Ferrera) younger brother Justin in comedy show Ugly Betty (20062010) was similar to his own life at the time. “My coming out was so seamless. My family knew – it was the same thing as Justin. Our coming out experiences were intertwined,” he says.

However, playing a gay teen didn’t 4

sit well with everyone and he was sent death threats when he was 13.

Mark shared Justin’s love of 5

fashion and until 2012, he ran his own fashion blog called The Fashion Gangster. At this year’s Ugly Betty press reunion, Mark said that Justin should be ready to finish fashion school now. NB! See more on p9
