Booze-free moms Bonnie and Christy are back for more hilarious shenanigans.

Mom Season 4 Saturdays (from 12 November) M-Net (*101) 18:30

A TV show about recovering alcoholics struggling to have a normal life doesn’t sound like a laugh-aminute sitcom. But fans of quirky comedy Mom (2013- current) will be the first to stand up in front of a crowd and confess: it’s a success because it unashamedly tackles some uncomfortable topics (like addiction, poverty, teenage pregnancy, disability and sometimes even death) with brutal honesty and tons of laughs. No wonder the show is a ratings success with loads of awards to its name. Now in its fourth season, Mom’s back with a slightly new dynamic for the new season. While info is scarce, here’s what we know so far:

Bonnie (Allison Janney) has a boyfriend! Remember her wheelchairbound stuntman suitor Adam Janakowski ( William Fichtner), who left her at the end of season 3

(May 2016)? Well, he’s back – William is now a full-time cast member and that means a whole new relationship dynamic for Bonnie this season. “We quickly spend a lot of time around each other and we start going through relationship growing pains,” says William. But trouble is coming because “Adam drinks and everyone else doesn’t. I could see that being something to eventually address”.

Also dealing with love is Bonnie’s daughter Christy (Anna Faris) who finds herself very single – and desperate to get out the house because Bonnie and Adam are having sex in every room they can! Christy enlists the help of rich galpal Jill (Jaime Pressly) in episode 1 to find a man… with hilarious results.

Christy might have some luck down the line though, when she meets her AA sponsor Marjorie’s (Mimi Kennedy) horse-riding instructor nephew, played by Anna’s real-life hubby Chris Pratt (Andy from Parks And Recreation, 2009-2015). It’s not yet clear how many episodes Chris will guest-star in but we can expect some drama because Marjorie isn’t happy about this budding relationship.
