Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!
Doggy detective Scooby-Doo and his pals from the Mystery Inc investigating company have been given a reboot in animated series Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! (2014-current). We’ve done some investigating to get to the bottom of a few mysteries about the crew, like…
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! was 1
the first animated series featuring the Mystery Inc, created by Hanna-Barbera in 1969. Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! is the 12th Scooby cartoon series.
The original series was going to 2
be called Who’s S-S-Scared, then The Mysteries Five featuring a band of bongo-drum players called Mysteries Five with a sheepdog named Too Much.
Fred is the only character who’s 3
always sounded the same – voice artist Frank Welker joined the Scooby team in 1969 and since 2000 he’s been the voice of Scooby-Doo too.
Show creators Joe Ruby and Ken 4
Spears say that the concept “was a combination of author Enid Blyton’s Famous Five adventure novels (19421963) and the Archie cartoons (1939current)”, while the characters’ appearances were inspired by sitcom The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis (1959-1963).
Velma’s “My glasses! I can’t see 5
without them!” line was added to the character after voice actress Nicole Jaffe dropped her glasses and said those words at the table read in 1968.
Scoobert-Doo and Norville Rogers 6
– aka Scooby and his human owner Shaggy – are the only characters to be in every episode of every Scooby series.
The show was also turned into a 7
sci-fi comic book in May 2016 by DC Comics, called Scooby Apocalypse.
Scooby is seven in dog years (49 in 8
human years).
