Sphe is at breaking point in a horrible battle for family power.

Sphe (Pearl Monama) doesn’t know which way to turn. She was roped into giving the MorokaCele family an heir in September 2016 by sleeping with her brotherin-law Smanga (Moopi Mothibeli) after learning that her hubby Mazwi (Musa Ngema) was infertile. She also doesn’t know how to tell mom Nandi (Brenda Mhlongo) that her bad-guy stepdad Jack Mabaso (Vusi Kunene) is behind the plan. Instead, she’s ready to end her pregnancy on Monday 19 December by drinking abortion pills.
“Sphe and Nandi never had a traditional mother-daughter bond,” Brenda explains. “Nandi is trying to correct it now, but Sphe blames Nandi for everything that’s happening and for abandoning her when she needed Nandi.” On Thursday 8 December, Nandi calls the Phakades and Mabasos together to get them to sort out their grievances – if Jack’s not fighting his enemies, that means he’ll have more time for her and to be a dad. Nandi also warns her son Fana (Mnqobi Duma) on Tuesday 13 December to stop helping Jack with his war before it’s too late, unaware of just how much influence Jack’s already had.
Sphe knows that Jack is using her as a chess piece in his war but she doesn’t want to tell Nandi what’s going on on Wednesday 14 December. “Nandi will freak out and despite their issues, Sphe doesn’t want to upset or stress her mother with this kind of news,” Brenda adds. “Jack is the master instigator. He’s actually forcing Sphe to get pregnant for his own schemes.”
But Jack isn’t alone – Nandi finds out from Fana on Monday 19 December that Sphe is ready to drink abortion pills and Nandi lashes out at Uncle Tebogo (Joe Mafela) after finding out the truth about Sphe’s hubby Mazwi taking another wife. “Tebogo is left furious on Friday 16 December after Nandi confronts him,” explains Brenda. “Nandi fights back as a mother protecting her daughter from disrespect, especially after finding out that her son-in-law is now engaged to another woman – Nolwazi (Thando Thabethe).” Brenda adds that Nandi is trying to build a bond with Sphe and that “it will help the family to not have secrets and also to let Sphe know that there’s someone on her side who’ll be there to fight for her and protect her”. Namhla sets a trap on Xolelwa’s laptop, and despite all he’s been though already, more bad news is on the way for Wandile. There’s nothing worse for Jack than to be stuck in a situation he can’t wriggle his way out of, and Lexi is forced into revealing who took Mickey’s keys. Meanwhile, Zitha’s work is done and she’s ready to leave Joburg, while Daniel is stressing about changes to his body.
Zakes drags Lesedi off kicking and screaming, and Jack demands results from his protégé. Wandile is pretty certain that he knows who stole his hormone medication, and Namhla asks for assistance with a problem. Cosmo has bad news for the Diales about Lebo vanishing, and Sphe’s secret is almost exposed but she manages to hide it from her mom just a little longer. Thulani hides spy cameras in Tshidi’s home, and Mazwi and Nolwazi are caught in the act. Meanwhile, Wandile can’t believe Gog’Flo’s attitude towards his situation, and Lesedi is on the auction block at long last. Jack’s growing frustration is the opportunity that Tshidi’s been waiting for, and Sphe has a solution for her problems. Elsewhere, Gadaffi is proving that you can’t keep a bad guy down.
