7 December

Mischief-makers Kamo and Obakeng (Makgotso M and Anga Makubalo) had an unprotected-sex one-night stand in November 2016 and in true TV fashion, Kamo’s pregnant overnight… by Thursday 8 December to be exact! Shocked, the 19-year-old tries to hide it but that’s going to be tough after she faints at the shebeen on Friday 9 December.

Worried shebeen boss Nina (Khabonina Qubeka) rushes Kamo to the clinic and the doctor blurts out that Kamo is pregnant. “Nina’s shocked when Kamo tells her that Nina’s son Obakeng is the dad,” says Makgotso. “Nina tries to convince Kamo that the best solution for everyone is an abortion.” Kamo considers Nina’s “solution” and confides in her spoilt-teen pal Jody Haines (Garion Dowds) on Wednesday 14 December. He gives her money for the abortion that same day, but first Kamo wants to tell Obakeng on Thursday 15 December. “He’s stunned,” explains Makgotso. “He keeps asking her if she’s sure that he’s the father. Obakeng is in denial.” After that response, Kamo’s too scared to tell anyone else, including her sister Lerato (Tema Sebopedi), but her conscience kicks in on Tuesday 20 December. “She thinks an abortion isn’t right and raising the baby with or without Obakeng will still be good. She’s a teen and will need all the support she can get from those around her,” says Makgotso.

Lerato is disappointed in Kamo but she stands by her younger sister. As for Obakeng, what will he say when he hears about Kamo’s change of mind? “We’ll have to see, but let’s just say that there is going to be a lot of hardship with this baby,” explains Makgotso, adding that this storyline “is a very real issue and encourages teens to practice safe sex to prevent unwanted pregnancies”.
