Romance ups & downs

Nonny’s dreams of a happily ever after are hanging by a thread.

Nonny wants Pule to propose but will she be left smiling after their date? Weekdays SABC2 (*192) 21:00

Secretary Nonny’s (Phindile Gwala) lovelife looks dismal. She’s swum a mile through the dating pool and drowned every time because no one matches up to handsome businessman Pule (Zwelethu Nkutsho). They met at the MMC offices in March 2016 and they’ve been on and off since then, but Nonny’s hoping that their romantic date on Wednesday 21 December will end with a ring…

ANTI-CLIMAX

No surprises here – Nonny doesn’t get what she wants. “She assumed that he would pop the question,” says Phindile. “But Pule just takes her on a boring, regular dinner date. She’s in love with him but can’t understand why he won’t commit.” On Thursday 22 December, Nonny relays her story to her ex-boss and friend Thandaza (Sindi Dlathu), adding that she’s worried about Pule’s commitment. Fed up, Nonny phones Pule on Friday 23 December and puts him on the spot, demanding the truth. “Their argument is volatile and Nonny feels bad for putting pressure on Pule, but at least she seems to be getting answers…” Phindile reveals.

BRAKES & BREAK-UPS

The fight ends on Monday 26 Decem- ber when Pule tells Nonny that he just wants to do things the right way and take things slow. But Nonny isn’t in the mood for taking things slow, explains Phindile. “She wants to move in with him and introduce him to her family so that she can get her happily ever after.” Frustrated, Nonny confides in Thandaza on Tuesday 27 December that it’s time to take a break from Pule since they’re clearly not on the same page. She’s probably not expecting the sad look on Pule’s face after their chat on Wednesday 28 December – he’s heartbroken but Nonny has made up her mind.

HIGH HOPES

Being dumped is a wake-up call for Pule and he’s ready to man up on Monday 2 January – he arrives at Nonny’s family home to meet her relatives. “She’s over the moon that he makes a move and is putting an effort in their relationship,” explains Phindile. “She seems to have forgotten their recent fight, especially when Pule hints that he wants to ask Nonny’s father Malume Themba (Magic Hlatshwayo) something very important. “She’s hoping that it will be for her hand in marriage…” teases Phindile.
