Sphe’s pregnant but Mazwi’s been told that he can’t have kids.

Sphe (Pearl Monama) knows that her hubby Mazwi (Musa Ngema) is the reason they can’t fall pregnant – she learnt in August 2016 that he’s infertile but kept the news from him. But karma’s out to teach both of them a lesson this fortnight – Sphe was dragged into a dodgy scheme to have a baby with her brother-in-law Smanga (Moopi Mothibeli) and fake Mazwi into believing that he’s the father, while Mazwi’s been trying to have a baby with his mistress Nolwazi (Thando Thabethe). Mazwi and Nolwazi see a doctor and on Thursday 19 January, Mazwi gets bad news: he’s infertile. But then whose child is Sphe carrying?
ACTING OUT
“Mazwi doesn’t tell anyone,” Musa reveals. “This would tarnish his legacy. He rather tries to figure it out on his own because he’s more concerned with the power of controlling the family business than fatherhood.” With his dreams of being a father and having a Moroka heir shattered, Mazwi confides in his pastor on Tuesday 24 January, only to realise that exposing his wife’s secret will do more harm than good, so he pretends that everything is normal. “Mazwi is power-hungry and he would rather raise somebody else’s baby than lose the empire,” adds Musa. “He’s furious with Sphe and hates her [for deceiving him], but he keeps it to himself as exposing her will put his legacy in ruins.” Mazwi also doesn’t know that his brother is the father – Smanga already slept with Mazwi’s ex-fiancée Simphiwe (Asanda Foji) in October 2015 and “it would devastate Mazwi because of their sibling rivalry. The last thing he wants is for Smanga’s kid to take over one day,” explains Musa.
LIVING A LIE
Mazwi is left heartbroken on Thursday 26 January and Musa says that “we see another side of Mazwi. He cries, he feels crippled and this secret messes with his life”. Realising that his entire future is going to be based on this lie, on Friday 27 January Mazwi hires a PI to find out who the babydaddy is. “This secret is a big deal for Mazwi and he also breaks-up with Nolwazi – he thinks that staying with her will reveal his secret,” says Musa. “He has something lined up for his wife too. He’s going to get his vengeance and make her pay for her lies…”
