Gold crush

Papa G is ready for some romance in Horizon Deep.

Isidingo Weekdays SABC3 (*193) 19:00

Since the first episode of Isidingo in 1998, two things have made gangster Georgie Zamdela’s (Darlington Michaels) heart beat faster: money and power. But they take a backseat from Friday 20 January after Papa G spots Nkadimeng (Sophie Ndaba, who played meddling Queen Moroka on Generations, 1998-2014) at the shebeen. Georgie wastes little time and introduces himself to Lerato and Kamo’s (Tema Sebopedi and Makgotso M) glamorous mother, who’s in The Deep visiting her daughters.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

“Nkadimeng is a beautiful, confident woman,” explains Darlington. “She’s well- dressed, well-spoken, takes care of herself and she’s the classiest lady he’s seen in a long time.” But there’s a problem for the Romeo: Georgie’s shebeen-boss daughter Nina (Khabonina Qubeka) isn’t impressed and on Monday 23 January she tells her dad that his flirting is embarrassing. “He’s aware of how Nina feels, but as far as Georgie is concerned, nobody has a say in who he should be affectionate with,” Darlington chuckles.

SPOILT SHAMELESS

Nkadimeng knows who Georgie is and by Thursday 26 January, she’s hiding his love tokens from her girls because she’s too embarrassed to tell anybody about her attraction to Georgie. “He would buy her a lot more if she allowed him to but she doesn’t,” says Darlington. There’s another reason Nkadimeng doesn’t want anyone to find out about her love interest: she’s married! “Georgie is smitten despite her being married, which he learns through their conversations. His focus has been business, but it wouldn’t hurt to have someone in his life,” teases Darlington.

FALSE PRETENCES

On Friday 27 January, Nkadimeng realises that she may have led Papa G on and decides to put an end to it by leaving The Deep on Monday 30 January. “He will be crushed,” says Darlington. “Papa G isn’t the type to give up, but he’ll have to accept that Nkadimeng is married, plus she loves her husband.” Wallowing in self pity, Papa G busies himself with work but he can’t stop thinking about Nkadimeng. And while she may be leaving The Deep now, she’ll have to come back – after all, her daughter Kamo is having a baby with Georgie’s grandson Obakeng’s (Anga Makubalo) in a few months’ time…
