Steffy hits the bottle as Liam flies off with man-snatching Ivy.

Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer) can take a hint. Cousin-killer Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) got her electrocuted on Monday 26 December. She fell and smacked her head on the fireplace while fighting with Steffy on Wednesday 4 January. And just as Ivy is packing to leave for Australia on Thursday 19 January, she tumbles down the stairs while arguing with Steffy again. Well, we can’t help laughing. Even Steffy’s terminally nice fiancé Liam (Scott Clifton) doesn’t believe that it’s some kind of “cosmic coincidence”. Ivy tells Liam from her hospital bed on Monday 23 January that she doesn’t want to spend one more night in LA and she means it. But Steffy shouldn’t rejoice at her Liam-loving rival fleeing in terror just yet.
WHITE KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN
With Ivy still shaky from her fall, Liam not only drives her to the airport on Monday 23 January, he buys himself a ticket for her flight so that he can walk her up the stairs, tuck her into her seat and coddle her all the way until her flight takes off, intending to give her his ticket so she can have two seats to relax in. Anyone who’s been listening to Steffy lately will completely agree with what she tells Liam in frustration on Thursday 19 January: “You need to stop sending mixed signals to Ivy. You were leading her on, giving false hope to a woman who just screwed over your brother. How could you possibly think this is okay?”
GONE TO HIS HEAD
Liam scampers off to moisten a towel to pat on Ivy’s forehead after she has a dizzy spell on Tuesday 24 January. But while he’s in the cubicle, Liam slips and knocks himself unconscious and he’s still napping as the flight takes off for Australia. Meanwhile back at Liam’s beach house, his fiancée Steffy is feeling properly told off by Liam’s continued lack of phone contact. And that’s when his brother Wyatt (Darin Brooks) – who’s just dumped Ivy after she was forced to confess that she only accepted his marriage proposal because she couldn’t have Liam – shows up to keep her company and perhaps flirt a bit.
UP IN THE AIR
Liam comes round on Thursday 26 January, only to be told the plane’s on its way to Sydney. Ivy isn’t going to miss this chance. It’s a 15-hour flight and on Friday 27 January, she starts chiselling away at Liam’s confidence in Steffy, hinting that Steffy would have no right to be upset with him for anything that has happened. She then advises Liam to take more time before he makes his relationship permanent – maybe even “break up a little”. It’s a message she repeats as long as he’s sit-ting helplessly in the seat next to her.
SUICIDAL CONCLUSIONS
Steffy is at breaking point the next morning when her phone finally rings. But the first thing Liam tells her is that he can’t come home because, “I’m in Sydney, Australia with Ivy. It’s a funny story…” He gets no further. Steffy hangs up: she’s received the message – and to her mind, rejection – clearly. Unaware that Liam has jumped right back on the plane for a flight to get back to her, Steffy grabs a bottle for a drunken rant with Wyatt that eventually turns into a comforting cuddle in her bed on Tuesday 31 January. It looks like Liam’s in for a nasty surprise when he arrives home and follows the trail of clothes to Steffy’s bedroom. Nice going, hero…
