He must pay!

Ayanda’s back and wants “killer” Emkay to be locked up, but he’s eyeing someone else to take the fall.

The walls are closing in on troubled student Emkay (Mlungisi Mathe) and this time there’s nowhere to hide. The cops have new evidence on Friday 3 February for Emkay’s murder trial that could see him behind bars for his friend Jama’s (Oros Mampofu) death in July 2016 and “it is not looking good for Emkay. He is going down for something he didn’t do,” explains Mlungisi. While Emkay is getting used to the idea on Monday 6 February that he could spend the rest of his life in jail, things take an unexpected turn and his ex- girlfriend Ayanda (Pretty Ncayiyane) shows up at Gauteng University. She was Jama’s girlfriend and wants revenge, with Pretty adding, “Ayanda is angry and resentful. She believes that Emkay killed Jama because he was jealous of Jama and Ayanda’s relationship.”

THE BLAME GAME

Ayanda tells the police that she wants to testify against Emkay on Tuesday 7 February. Worse yet for suspect Emkay, Ayanda convinces their friends Kwaito and Tbose (Clement Maosa and Cornet Mamabolo) on Wednesday 8 February to testify with her! “Emkay is terrified but he keeps his cool,” says Mlungisi. “He thinks that he’ll end up disappointing his mom, just like his father who’s also in jail.” That’s when he comes up with his own revenge plan – instead of accepting the sentence for Jama’s death, he’s going to throw Tbose and Kwaito under the bus and make them take the fall. Emkay tells his two friends and tries to scare them out of helping Ayanda, explains Mlungisi. “Emkay threatens to tell the police that it was Tbose and Kwaito who caused the tragedy, plus there’s the pair’s history of getting in trouble with the police [they stole Tbose’s dad’s car and ran over Ben Kunutu (Steven Mbedzi) in 2014 when Skeem Saam started]. That gets Tbose and Kwaito rethinking testifying, but everyone wants to save themselves still.”

FLAME WITH ANGER

Ayanda and Emkay already don’t get on as exes and even the sight of Emkay makes Ayanda’s blood boil. They get into a serious argument on Friday 10 February and while Emkay is willing to bury the hatchet and wants to talk things out with Ayanda, “She hates him and shouts at him. She wants to make sure that he is not let off the hook,” explains Pretty. And she’s making sure that she has a constant reminder of her fury – Ayanda is still vulnerable and wears the ring that Jama gave her. “She’s not coping but this spurs her on with her fight for justice,” adds Pretty.

YOU’VE BEEN FRAMED!

Emkay isn’t entirely to blame for Jama’s death but that hasn’t stopped him from trying to find a sneaky way out of his predicament. On Tuesday 14 February he asks Sis’Ouma (Nokuzola Mlengana), the head of the varsity res, to move him in with bad-guy Fanie (Gift Mokhampanyane) – Emkay’s secretly hatching a plan to frame Fanie who’s just been accepted at the varsity and is thinking of starting a new life that doesn’t involve being in trouble with the law. It’s every man for himself right now and “a desperate Emkay is selfabsorbed and always up to something. He will do anything to get out of this, even if somebody innocent takes the fall,” hints Mlungisi.
