Past lover, present problem

Businessman Rajesh (Jack Devnarain) arrived in Horizon Deep 14 years ago with his past shrouded in a cloud of secrecy. But now viewers will get to know Rajesh’s backstory – including a catch-up with a former lover, as Jack reveals. “We are now getting a glimpse of Rajesh’s very first love Kgothalo (Katlego Danke), who he met at university. It’s a bittersweet story because she’s now married to political activist Tyson (Shona Ferguson).” Despite Kgothalo being off the market, she and Rajesh still have a fiery romance and it’s beginning to interfere with their lives.
SIDE ATTRACTIONS
Their chemistry is increasingly difficult to ignore on Tuesday 7 February and Jack says that “Rajesh and Kgothalo’s bond is stronger than ever even after all these years. However, they’re forced to keep their interactions to a minimum as Kgothalo is married and there are serious consequences if they’re seen by the public together.” Kgothalo’s marriage to Tyson isn’t romantic, it’s a business partnership. That explains why Tyson has turned a blind-eye to many of his wife’s previous side flirtations, but this time it’s different and Tyson isn’t liking what he sees happening between Kgothalo and Rajesh.
HUBBY IN THE WAY
Rajesh has been a mostly honest and moral man as far as The Deep’s citizens are concerned and he has hidden his other side well, but Tyson’s no fool and sees through Rajesh’s lies. By Wednesday 8 February, Tyson’s insecurities over Kgothalo and Rajesh start to show and he is no longer willing to play along with Kgothalo’s cat-and-mouse games. Tyson also wants to keep interactions with Rajesh to a minimum but there is a problem with that: they have to communicate due to their business dealings. “Rajesh knows that Tyson is a big deal in the business and political industries,” says Jack. “He also respects Tyson and tries not to doublecross him. Rajesh throws his focus into work but Kgothalo is a major distraction…”
SIPS & SECRETS
And that distraction leads to Rajesh and Kgothalo having drinks after work on Monday 13 February. Kgothalo says that she wants to keep their past relationship a secret but “Rajesh wants to know why Kgothalo left him all those years ago and disappeared without a trace for months. He wants answers but she simply isn’t willing to share that with him,” Jack adds. What she does tell him is that she’s not going to be leaving Tyson anytime soon, but that isn’t going to put Rajesh off “the girl that got away”…
