24: Legacy

Action show 24 (2001-2010) got its first reboot 24: Live Another Day as a limited series in 2014 and it’s back with another spin-off, this time a full series called 24: Legacy (2017-current). Elite soldier Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins) returns to the US after eliminating a terrorist in the Middle East but someone wants him and his family dead… someone in the government with access to topsecret intel. “It’s crazy,” reveals Corey. “I’m running from stuff, I’m running at stuff… stuff’s blowing up!”
There’s only one person Eric trusts to save his family while he tries to fend off the biggest terrorist attack on the US – Rebecca Ingram (Miranda Otto), a high-ranking official at the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU). Eric doesn’t even trust Rebecca’s hubby John Donovan (Jimmy Smits), who’s running for the US presidency. And while the show is meant to be a stand-alone series, there will most certainly be tiebacks to the original 24 that Kiefer Sutherland made famous as agent-on-the-run Jack Bauer. For starters, Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard), who was the former head of the CTU and became a terrorist, could pop up again. His life hung in the balance at the end of 24 and he was shown mapping a prison escape in 24: Live Another Day. Rumour has it Tony could be behind the new terror threat on the US…
Sadly Jack Bauer is more than likely not going to show up – at least not in the first season – as Kiefer’s filming his new political drama Designated Survivor (2016-current). Fans shouldn’t give up hope though – Kiefer teased “Bauer is still out there!” Perhaps once the viewers are invested in the new characters, we’ll start getting the answers we’ve been waiting for on the old ones…
