New-look Will (left) gets a proposal from Sonny. Weekdays SABC3 00:00 Soapie

We’re as giddy as Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) with a ring in his pocket – today (Tuesday 14 March) is the day that he’ll propose to his true love Will Horton (Guy Wilson, who took over the role from Chandler Massey as of Tuesday 7 March). It’s worth staying up late for this, even though it happens over two days – 14 and 15 March. On 14 March, Sonny drops to one knee and just blurts out, “Will Horton, will you marry me?” And all that an astonished Will can say in response is “Wow!” It looks like Sonny is going to have to up his game on Wednesday 15 March!

Sonny tells Will, “You can’t be all that surprised. All right, we might have thought that this wasn’t going to happen, but the Supreme Court made the ruling. We can get married right here in Salem. All right, this has been a dream that I’ve had my entire life. And I want to marry the man that I love. And I met you, we’ve been together and I thought this was the next step. So in case that ‘Wow’ was a ‘Wow?’, I am going to ask you again. Will Horton, will you marry me?” It’s not that easy though…

Will is worried about Sonny’s ability to deal with the complications in his life – like being kidnapped now and then, or the fact that his babymama, his mom and his grandma just murdered a guy and dumped him in the Salem river. It’s these little daily irritations that can build up to destroy a marriage. And he definitely doesn’t want to follow in his much-married mom Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) footsteps. But while Will isn’t saying yes just yet, he’s not saying no either – and judging by what happens in bed later, he’s definitely thrilled with Sonny for asking. Keep working at it, Sonny! NB!
