The cops are coming

Chicago PD is bringing arresting action to free-TV.

-

Chicago PD Season 1 Tuesdays (from 14 March) e.tv (*194) 20:30

Chicago isn’t just “the windy city”; it’s also the action hotspot if TV series are anything to go by. Chicago PD (2014- current) is the spin-off of fire department show Chicago Fire (2012- current) and the pair have a third family member – Chicago Med (2015- current). While M-Net viewers are well ahead with all three (which air Tuesdays from 19:30 to 22:30), e.tv fans can now get to grips with the city’s cop shop and its officers who’re keeping the streets clean and criminals in cuffs.

THE ACTION IS REAL Sergeant Hank Voight

(Jason Beghe – Richard Bates in dramedy Californication, 2007-2014) is the strict squad commander of the Chicago PD’s Intelligence Agency. Jason says that the 15- episode first season is going to see criminals range from pickpockets through to more serious baddies, like bombers and cop killers and getting into character was

“an eye-opening learning curve”. “To get everything looking right, like the way criminals are arrested and even just how detectives and uniformed cops do their investigation work, we went on ride-alongs with actual Chicago cops. I never expected this [police] work to be so intricate and detailed.” Jason adds that even putting handcuffs on criminals is an artform because “if you do it wrong, they can slip out and then you have to explain to your boss. And someone like Voight isn’t understanding…”
