Strong-willed bachelorette Getty (Andisiwe Dweba) is tired of waiting for her Mr Right. So she takes matters into her own hands and asks out Lungelo (Anelisa Phewa), the new guy at work on Wednesday 15 March. But Lungelo isn’t biting. “He only sees her as his colleague,” explains Andisiwe. “Getty’s not backing down though.” Turns out Lungelo’s got his sights set on her bestie Wandile (Chi Mhende) and that annoys Getty. “She’s even willing to put her friendship on the line…” teases Andisiwe
A WICKED PLAN
While Getty is scheming for ways to get Lungelo’s attention, he’s making plans with Wandile and on Thursday 16 March she agrees to a date with him. “Getty’s furious!” Andisiwe says. “She’s losing at a race of two horses and she’s not taking it well.” And it gets worse on Tuesday 21 March when Lungelo gives her the cold shoulder at work. “She thinks that Lungelo is living her life. He’s the new office favourite and he’s dating her ex. It’s not fair.”
She needs to come up with a plan fast and Getty does on Tuesday 21 March. But it’s a pretty desperate one that she hopes will change things between Lungelo and Wandile and also give her a shot with him: Getty reveals Wandile’s transgender secret. Her plan seems to work because the next day, on Wednesday 22 March, a furious Lungelo ends things with Wandile, who started her gender reassignment process in August 2016. Andisiwe reckons that Getty’s gone too far this time though. “She let her jealousy cloud her judgement. It looks like she’s ruined a good relationship with a great friend,” she says.
BAD BLOOD ALL ROUND
But there’s a snag with Getty’s plan: while Lungelo isn’t with Wandi anymore, he’s also not interested in Getty. She offers him a shoulder to cry on on Friday 24 March but he just pushes her away. Andisiwe explains that her character doesn’t know how to handle rejection and “instead of dealing with her loneliness, she self- destructs and ruins her relationships and friendships”. And she’s taking out her frustrations on poor Wandile – Getty publicly makes fun of Wandi’s sex change on Tuesday 28 March. “Getty is convinced that she will still win Lungelo over,” Andisiwe explains. “She’ll destroy anyone who comes between her and happiness.”
