Suffocate uses his baby daughter as leverage against Niki.

Suffocate (Mduduzi Mabaso) isn’t one to be toyed with and ex-wife Niki (Nolo Phiri) knows that. She’s been hiding her relationship with Suffo’s ex-pal Toolkit (Paul Maila) for months and Mduduzi says that “it is a mess!” On Friday 17 March, Toolkit tells Suffo that he’d been dating Niki – they broke up shortly in early March while Suffo helped Niki save her brother Bash (Simphiwe Mtshali) from prison. As payback, Suffo threatens to take his daughter Busi (Thabo Ntshubela) from Niki if she doesn’t stay away from Toolkit and Mduduzi says that his character “thinks that this will scare Niki and that Toolkit will stay away for good”.
THE BABY’S MINE
To make sure that they get his message, Suffo demands full custody of Busi on Monday 20 March. “He’s not just playing the jealous ex. Suffo thinks that his daughter isn’t safe around someone as dangerous as Toolkit,” Mduduzi says, which is rich since Suffo’s no angel himself. The men fell out in November 2016 and Mduduzi reminds viewers that “Toolkit was Suffo’s hitman. He knows that Toolkit wouldn’t hesitate to use Busi for revenge if needed.”
Suffo orders his new right-handman Speshil (Sayitsheni Mdaki) to scare off Toolkit on Tuesday 21 March and Mduduzi teases, “Suffo wants him gone. He doesn’t want Toolkit near his family and he will do whatever it takes to make sure that he disappears”.
STRONGER APART
Desperate, Niki begs Toolkit to speak to Suffo on Wednesday 22 March and get him to leave Busi with her. “This confuses Toolkit because he doesn’t know how to approach his ex-boss,” says Mduduzi. Considering their alphamale natures, it’s not surprising that Toolkit is aggressive in his approach on Friday 24 March. Mduduzi explains that “Suffo isn’t interested in talking to Toolkit. He’d rather settle this with Niki, who’s lied to him repeatedly, so he turns his attention to her instead”.
Suffo claims on Monday 27 March that not only is Niki incompetent, she also ruined their marriage by sleeping with Suffo’s brother Themba (Sphamandla Dhludhlu) in mid 2016. “Suffo is sad and wants Niki to feel the same,” says Mduduzi. It works and humiliated, Niki pushes everyone away on Tuesday 28 March, including Toolkit. Mduduzi grins, “Suffo’s good at toying with Niki’s emotions. He wants to see her single again.” Sounds like someone isn’t quite over his ex despite his actions…
