Former deli owner Vince (Jacques Blignaut) has wanted to be part of his son Christopher’s life ever since he found out in 2015 that he was a dad. But that never happened as his ex- girlfriend Cecile (Chantal Stanfield) disappeared with their child [who was never seen onscreen]. But from Monday 3 April, Vince has renewed hope when Cecile makes contact, sort of.
BUYING A BOY
Vince’s stepmom Charmaine (Vinette Ebrahim) spots him deep in thought at her coffee shop Oppiekoffie on Wednesday 29 March and “he tells her that he was contacted by Cecile’s lawyer Lesedi (KB Motsilanyane, Lucilla on Rhythm City from 2007 to 2015),” Jacques explains. “Cecile wants money from the trust that Vince’s late father Neville (Zane Meas) set up for his grandkids. From what he’s been told, Cecile wants to use the money for an important surgery for Christopher,” says Jacques, adding that his character doesn’t trust Cecile and thinks that she wants the money for herself.
LAW AT WAR
On Friday 31 march, Vince’s wife Bonita (Hildegardt Whites) is stressed because he didn’t sleep a wink the night before. “Vince plays open cards and tells her about Lesedi’s call about money for Christopher and Cecile. He expects her to be shocked and furious [like she was when he first told her about his son in 2015],” says Jacques. “But she’s supportive and tells him to fight Cecile.”
Later that day Vince meets with his lawyer André (Marcus Muller) who is cautiously optimistic of Vince getting to be a dad to Christopher, but that’s ruined on Monday 3 April when André contacts Lesedi. “She reveals that Cecile has no interest in letting Vince see his son,” says Jacques. “And that merely stokes the fires. Vince is furious and instructs André to fight, even if it means dragging Cecile to court. If only they knew what was coming on Monday 11 April, when they’ll find out just how tough it’s going to be to beat Lesedi.
THE LADY BEHIND LESEDI
KB’s been on a TV break since leaving Rhythm City and says that she was excited about signing her deal with 7de Laan in January 2017. “I was starstruck by Matrone (Annelize van der Ryst-Hattingh),” she says. “It was incredible to see this woman for the first time in the flesh and not on TV. I’m looking forward to my role.”
