Dintle (Mapaseka Koetle) sends “Uncle Freddie” (Charles Baloyi) packing on Wednesday 29 March after he rocks up at the penthouse. And she’s in no mood for tearful scenes at his bedside after she gets a call from the hospital. “Freddie writes Dintle as his next of kin. At first she’s like, ‘No, no, no!’ The nurses think that Dintle is very rude to her uncle,” laughs Mapaseka. Dintle doesn’t want some random homeless man who helped her steal a fortune from her exhusband Mangi (Kagiso Modupe) last year hanging around. But she changes her tune on Friday 31 March after she realises that she can take out an insurance policy on her dying “uncle”. Now according to the policy’s terms, Dintle can only cash in if Uncle Freddie survives the next three months…

FAKE IT ’TIL YOU MAKE IT

On Wednesday 5 April, Dintle smuggles Freddie into the penthouse and an odd new family forms. “When she sees that Freddie is good with her baby, she is surprised and happy,” says Mapaseka. “She asks him, ‘Do you have kids of your own?’ And they get to know each other. Even though Freddie doesn’t want to open up about his past, Dintle opens up about her situation with Mangi. And once she starts to get close with Freddie, fans will get to see that Dintle has a heart. When she loves, she loves. Dintle doesn’t have a father figure in her life, she really just needs someone who will love her and be there for her. Freddie is the one to do that at the moment.”

She’s still our Dintle though. “She is glad to have someone in the house who’s good with the baby, because she is very lazy, she wants to sit down and watch TV,” admits Mapaseka with a giggle. NB! See more on p18.
